day 60 - 05/09
day 60! wow - 2 months on the trail. time flies when one is in bliss! i found out today that i have officially contracted giardia and therefore have giardiasis. not sure if my threshold for pain and discomfort is unusually high, but it is not nearly as bad a i had heard it was. it certainly won't keep me from hiking. today was a rockin' hike over the knife's edge, which proved to be the most technically difficult hike thus far. it literally is a ridge line of rocks that meet at a sharp point with a steep and potentially dangerous and/or painful drop off on both sides. i was in heaven. so much fun. oh, and the sun finally came out! yay! i then went in to palmerton, pa and stayed at a free hostel that is an unused old jailhouse. so i guess i was in jail for the night. met some great section hikers and had a great dinner as my appetite has returned a little. 25.3mi from eckville shelter to palmerton jailhouse hostel. 1251.8 total.
